RECENT WORKS
“MOTHER JOAN”
SPRING 2025
Mother Joan is a collection about the ways we police ourselves, the way femininity is staged, watched, and judged. It’s a ritual, a confession, and a refusal. A love letter to the women who taught the world that desire isn’t sin — it’s survival.
“NEST”
FALL 2024
NEST explores the tension between insecurity and the often-futile attempts to fit in. This collection delves into the instinctive ways we try to mask our discomfort by adapting or blending in, only to paradoxically make ourselves stand out even more.
“PARISIAN GIRL”
FALL 2024
Parisian Girl consists of one look designed during Malia’s first trip to Paris, and shot during her second. It speaks to the internal turmoil of fighting for a spot in the industry, and the fear of losing one’s adolescence to it.
“LUCILLE”
SPRING 2024
Lucille challenges the romanticized “fragile woman” aesthetic by reimagining hyper-feminine silhouettes. Using sheer, delicate fabrics like silk chiffon and lace, the collection subverts the coquette ideal, retaining its softness while rejecting its submissiveness. Lucille reclaims daintiness not as weakness, but as a deliberate form of strength.
TORY BURCH PROJECT
SPRING 2025
For this school project, we were tasked with upcycling leftover materials from past Tory Burch collections. This collection draws from 1960s eveningwear and workplace dress codes to examine the fashion industry’s ongoing exploitation of young designers and creatives.
“Through Her Eyes: Fashion, Power, and the Disruption of the Male Gaze”
SPRING 2025
An extensive research paper examining Laura Mulvey’s theory of the male gaze in film, and how it applies to modern fashion advertising and runway.
