TORY BURCH PROJECT

This collection aims to expose the systemic exploitation of students and emerging designers by major fashion houses, where unpaid labor, idea theft, and false promises fuel an industry built on prestige over ethics. The “gimp” is used as an icon of subversion, displaying the submissive nature required when starting out in the industry. Drawing inspiration from 1960s evening wear, echoing systemic gender roles and workplace roles prevalent in fashion history. The collection reflects the disillusionment of young creatives—caught between ambition and exploitation—while incorporating reclaimed Tory Burch materials as a statement against the cycle of disposability.
